At Scoil Íosa, each class appoints a Wellbeing Ambassador who helps to promote a positive and supportive atmosphere throughout the school. These pupils are selected by their class teachers and play an important role in encouraging good wellbeing habits among their classmates.

Wellbeing Ambassadors support their classes in practising simple strategies that help everyone manage their feelings and stay focused during the school day, including the use of the Zones of Regulation. They also meet with staff to help plan and support school-widewellbeing initiatives and activities.

During the year, the ambassadors help promote themes such as kindness, friendship, mindfulness, physical activity, creativity and positive mental health. They contribute to events and awareness days including World Mental Health Day, World Kindness Day andAnti-Bullying Week, helping to build a caring and respectful school culture.

The role also gives pupils an opportunity to share the ideas and opinions of theirclassmates, ensuring that pupil voice is part of how we continue to develop Scoil Íosa as a happy, inclusive and welcoming school for all. Through this role, children learn the importance of supporting both their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others.
